World experts join new alliance

The GERA Centre of Research Excellence has announced its new team of Chief and Associate Investigators.

It brings together a cross-disciplinary team of experts from 15 institutes around Australia and the world.

The centre’s fields of expertise include epidemiology, genetics, genetic epidemiology, population health, biostatistics, data science, artificial intelligence, precision medicine, biology, risk prediction and modelling, biobanking, health economics and health translation.

It also encompasses expertise in the three areas of GERA’s initial research focus: cancers, mental health and respiratory health.

GERA is being led by Associate Professor Shuai Li. He is an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow, a Dame Kate Campbell Fellow and a medically trained epidemiologist at the Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of Melbourne. His research interests include genetic and epigenetic epidemiology, twin and family research, and cancer risk modelling.
